To create a new WordPress user profile is quite easy. As the Administrator of you site, you may want to add the ability for other people to access the Dashboard and perform various tasks. What each person is allowed to do depends on what Role they are assigned.
To add, manage or delete user profiles you will need to follow the directions below or watch the video above.
First you need to log in to your WordPress site. once you are at the Dashboard click on “Users” located on the left-hand side panel of the page. Then click “Add New.” You’ll now see a page that will allow you to type in the new username, first name, last name, email address, website (not needed), and a password.
Select the Role. Roles listed include subscriber, administrator, editor, author, and contributor.
Each Roll has a distinct function. The Administrator is the highest level of user and can do everything. The Administrator can change all the settings in the blog, as well as switch themes and activate and edit plugins. The Administrator also has the power to edit users and edit files, manage options, and import files. Everything.
An Editor is the second highest role. An Editor can moderate comments and manage categories. An Editor is also allowed to manage links, enter unfiltered html, edit published posts, edit other contributor’s posts, and edit pages. Editors are also able to upload files and publish posts.
Authors are the role who create content through posts on the website,
Then there is the role of Contributor. Contributors can create and edit their own posts; however, they do not have the authority to upload images. Contributors can write a post and save it but they can’t publish it. They have to get the Editor or Administrator to do that. They are able to insert images that have already been uploaded to the media library.
And the final role is the Subscriber. A Subscriber has the ability to read content published on the website, make comments and edit their profile.
So, to create a new WordPress user is very easy once you do it a few times and figure out permission levels or access you want each user to have.
